recently i’ve started playing chess.
i’m a complete novice and i haven’t took chess seriously since i was born.
i was motivated to start for a few reasons:
- Summer is here and before I go into the military, I wanted to learn something new
- Tyler1, a famous league of legends streamer hitting 1900 elo after playing for less than a year
- I noticed that I give up very easily on climbing competitive games (e.g. LoL, Valorant)
- Becoming top 1% in games translate to obsessing over success (which is what being a founder is about)
before I get into the things that I learnt from chess, just want to share my progress:
at the time of writing this, it’s been around a month since i started taking chess seriously.
i’ve went from 500→900 elo in ~month.
for those of you who actually play chess, you’ll notice that i’m not even close to being a “good” chess player yet. but i’ve definitely made some significant progress.
so what have i learnt from this experience so far?
Chess is just consistently making the best decision possible. And so are most other things.
